PRESSURE TEST IN SIMULATED PERFORATION TUNNEL


Test Purpose: Pressure tests in a simulated perforation tunnel were conducted to measure pressure as released by CoFrac® Perforation (Fig.1), another Propellant Perforation method on the market (Fig.2), and Conventional Perforation (Fig.3)

The other Propellant Perforation method induces the most damage to the gun body.

Test Results

Among the 3 tests, as shown in Fig. 4, Conventional Perforation’s maximum pressure is the lowest (5.96MPa) and earliest (10ms);

The maximum pressure of the other Propellant Perforation method is slightly higher than that of the Conventional Perforation method (6.7 MPa), and its pressure peak is at 28 ms;

CoFrac® Perforation’s maximum pressure is the highest (23.4MPa) with its peak time is at 25ms;

Perforation energy release within the tunnel is calculated according to the curve area. Conventional Perforation’s energy release is half of the other Propellant Perforation method’s energy release.

CoFrac® Perforation’s curve area is significantly greater than that of the Conventional Perforation and the other Propellant Perforation method’s curve area.

Thus, CoFrac® releases more energy within the perforation tunnel.
